The effects and cost of damage from deer populations on forestry and conservation interests are very apparent. No matter the scale: - large forestry schemes, farm woodland, amenity planting or private garden, all are suffering from the attentions of increasing numbers of deer.
I have over 30 years involvement in the management of, and advising on deer problems and issues. My C.V. in deer management begins with 4 years in a family run business, working in all aspects of forest management. I then moved to Economic Forestry/Tilhill Economic Forestry as area wildlife manager for S.W. Scotland where I spent almost 20 years.
After that I joined the Red Deer Commission (now the Deer Commission fo
r Scotland) as a Deer Liaison Officer for S.W. Scotland. I carried out the work of the Commission in all its facets for over 7 years. With this all-round experience in forestry, deer and wildlife management I can now offer the benefit of that experience in the form of an advisory service to the forest industry, estates and private individuals.
